We invite you to the free Webinar: Smoke tests and mirrors — the magic in test automation.

The webinar will take place on September 5th, 2022. Start at 19:30 (GMT+3).

You can find more details here.

Speaker about the webinar:

Having been a magician for 35 years, I started noticing that some magic principles and theories also apply to software testing. In this session, I will try to connect those two seemingly unrelated subjects. This will show that everything you learn has an impact on how you behave and what you do professionally.

During the webinar, you will be able to:

— See how experiences in a completely unrelated field can be highly beneficial for your professional life;

— Think about aspects of software testing from a different angle;

— Get to know a little more about the magic world and have some fun with it.

Plan:

  1. Introduction;
  2. A short glimpse into the magic world;
  3. Nine magic principles in software;
  4. Final thoughts.

Theoretical knowledge that you will gain:

  • Speaker will talk about the magic principles of misdirection, force, repetition, clarity, framing, time lapse, conviction, failure, and hidden complexity.
  • You will learn about how these are relevant in magic and software development alike.

Practical skills that you will gain after the webinar:

  • You will hopefully be inspired to look at your profession from new perspectives. This can help in finding solutions and overcome blockages.

Who will be interested:

  • Various roles within the software testing space (participants must have basic testing knowledge).

Speaker:

Benjamin Bischoff (Germany)

  • After being a game/application developer and trainer for 15 years, Benjamin decided in 2017 to make test automation his main career.
  • Currently, he works as a Test Automation Engineer (SDET) in trivago’s core QA team. His focus lies on the development and maintenance of trivago’s in-house end-to-end test framework and related build pipelines as well as back-end automation. Additionally, he provides help with all test automation matters.
  • Benjamin is the author and maintainer of two open source projects for Cucumber BDD parallel test execution and reporting. Also, he is a conference speaker and writes about testing and automation topics on his blog.
