AI Meet-up #1: Birdsong recognition. How to hack a Kaggle competition? (подія в архіві)

Took place
16 February (Thursday)

In this meet-up our own Volodymyr Sydorskyi, a Kaggle grandmaster, will be dissecting his team’s solution to the bird song recognition contest on Kaggle, which took 4-th place among 1390 competing teams.

Respeecher is a Ukrainian company that has created synthetic speech for major video games, including last year’s God of War Ragnarök, and TV shows, including the iconic voices of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in The Mandalorian and other shows set in the world of Star Wars.

We are organizing a series of AI/ML meetups dedicated to speech processing to build community and exchange experience. They are created for people to exchange experiences and to raise money for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In this event, you will learn about:

— The Fourier transform and other spectral transforms
— Kaggle’s birdsong recognition competition
— Our approach
— What didn’t work
Other participants’ approaches (short overview)

The speaker this time will be Volodymyr Sydorskyi:

— Research Development Team Lead at Respeecher
— Kaggle Competition GrandMaster
— MS in Computer Science. Bachelor’s thesis on generative models in computer vision. Master’s thesis on weakly-supervised approaches for image segmentation

In 2020, Volodymyr Sydorskyi took 4th place in Kaggle’s birdsong recognition competition.

This event will be useful for:

— Kaggle competitors and people interested in competitive data science
— ML/DL engineers (especially in audio, DSP and CV)
— Students of technical universities
People interested in audio and DSP with some DL background
