This meet up is going to be a bit special. We are targeting people who like to play with things like Arduino and Raspberry Pi, but miss their lovely JavaScript, while doing it :)
Welcome Jan Jongboom. He will show you the world of electronic devices and gadgets, controlled and programmed by JavaScript.
Abstract: Everyone loves the Raspberry Pi or Arduino, they are amazing little developer boards that drive almost all of the Internet of Things devices. Unfortunately they have one small problem... They’re very, very expensive. Why do I need to shell out 30$ for a simple dev board, and 69$ for a GSM shield, when I can get a full smartphone for just 25$?!
In this talk Jan will literally break apart phones, introduce you to his alternative smartphone OS, hack volume buttons to control LEDs, solder some batteries and even juggle some devices.
Speaker: Half the day Jan is a developer for Telenor Digital where he works on Firefox OS / IoT / Open Hardware.
Jan is a core contributor for Firefox OS and submitted hundreds of patches to various open source projects. Furthermore he is working as Firefox OS Evangelist, building community in countries where Telenor launches.
