DecisionMapper and its CEO Niraj Kumar: Account of my work there
I will describe my experience in English in order to make it accessible for a broader audience of software developers and make it easier for my former employer to understand my message and respond.
When in disagreement with someone, I try not to wash our dirty linen in public and I try to solve the problem ourselves unless even after taking the other side’s position I’m sure I am being treated improperly.
Long story short, I worked for this company and after I stopped work for them, I can’t get my last salary paid. Niraj Kumar keeps promising he will pay it. According to agreement between him and me, I had to be paid by the 5th of July, and today is the 6th of August.
Some more detail. Before DecisionMapper, I was among 12 people to whom my another previous employer, qbeats, didn’t pay a few last salaries, unused holidays, notice period compensation and penalty for delays. So when joining DecisionMapper, I couldn’t find any review of the company (at Glassdoor, dou.ua) and it was a remote job, so I asked Niraj if I could be paid after each week at least at the beginning. Niraj replied that he would agree if I was okay to have some (not big) amount of the wages I asked for to be allocated and paid at the end of the year in case of successful performance review. I intended to have a long-term relationship with DecisionMapper and do my best at this job, so I agreed after some consideration.
No payment was on time. The explanations were that CEO was busy and couldn’t respond to my reminders that I wasn’t paid on time, to say nothing of sending a payment. My suggestion that a Project Manager relieves CEO of handling payments wan’t accepted. After the first payment I was told that paying me weekly would be difficult to handle, and I was proposed to be paid after each month of work. I felt deceived but somehow we managed to find a middle ground: I was supposed to be paid monthly so that half a payment covered the past days and a half — future days. In reality, it usually worked this way: after I wasn’t paid on time I sent a reminder to Niraj, got no response, in a few days sent messages to my coworkers — got paid. Last time I was paid, I got a warning from Niraj that I would be fired immediately if I ever send a payment-related message to anyone except him.
