What team(s) are hiring?
AWS Commerce Platform and Simple Workflow for our Vancouver, BC office. Berlin, Germany is also an option. Offers include comprehensive family relocation, benefits and visa sponsorship.

What do these teams own?
AWS Commerce Platform provides the back and front-end services that enable AWS customers to purchase AWS services and understand and manage their infrastructure costs. Our teams tackle some of the hardest scalability, performance, and distributed computing challenges the world. We process trillions of events per month using stream processing techniques (Kinesis), process billions of line items via map reduce (EMR), and manage artifacts through the latest in database technologies (DynamoDB and Aurora). We process big data and provide tools for customers to interactively understand their bills. We also provide the analytics that let customers manage billions of dollars of IT usage and spending. Because we sit at the nexus of all AWS services and interact directly with end-customers, we also work closely across all AWS teams to ensure that we offer a great customer experience.
AWS Simple Workflow (SWF) provides serverless computing workflow automation solutions that make up the backbone of our IoT, and future machine learning offerings. We also work closely with customers like NASA to provide key elements of the Mars Rover architecture, and help their satellites to reduce the impact of disasters via image prediction of evolving natural phenomena. We work on some of the largest distributed systems in the world with innovative technologies that have real-world impact for millions of people.
Who are we looking to hire?
Mid and senior level software development engineers with OO programming, strong CS fundamentals, and distributed systems knowledge. 4+ years of industry experience. We cannot hire junior engineers at this time.

What does the interview process entail?
Our interview process for consideration is simple: (1) resume review (2) an online coding challenge (3) connect by phone for a recruiter PS and (4) in person interviews with several senior team members assuming everything goes well. Candidates only need to be free one morning or afternoon to interview while we’re in town the week of January 21st, 2019. We are happy to consider candidates in nearby countries and will cover the costs associated to attend interviews.
